Effect of side lobes level of a point spread function on the quality of restored images

Abstract. A variety of factors influence the result of image restoration (of increasing image quality). One of the most important conditions of correct functionality of the method proposed in our previous publications is precise determination of a point spread function. The method is based on the fact that statistical characteristics of spectra of objects of the same class and point spread function are known. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the important role of consideration of side lobes of a point spread function for improving the quality of radio images.
