Method of determination of forest stratum effective permittivity

Abstract. We consider the method of determination of effective permittivity of forest growth in low frequency part of VHF. The base of the method is the analysis of experimentally obtained distance dependencies of signal level in forest stratum. The purpose is the determination of trajectory of side waves, sliding along upper forest border, when receiving and transmitting antenna are embedded into the forest stratum. The obtained results are in good correlation with known values of forest stratum permittivity, obtained by another methods.
