PHOTON-NUMBER RESOLVING SUPERCONDUCTING SINGLE-PHOTON DETECTOR FOR LONG-DISTANCE TELECOMMUNICATION SYSTEMS

Abstract. We consider an ability of applying photon number resolving superconducting single-photon detector as a sensor in receiving modules for telecommunication lines. We demonstrate that for achieving bit error rate at the order of 10^-11 it is sufficient to have two order of magnitude smaller power in an optical pulse as compared to the existing receiving modules.
