Methods and instruments of measurements for the study of film materials in near and far radiation field in centimeter wave range

Abstract. This paper discusses methods and tools for measuring the transmission coefficients of electromagnetic radiation through a sample of flat thin sheet materials in the near and far field emitter. The efficiency of these methods was demonstrated when measurements were carried out on the actual samples in free space. Investigations of sample materials in the near zone of the emitter structure with different fields (the electric and magnetic) at frequencies of 1 ... 8.5 GHz were fulfilled.  Two types of matching elements of emitters were manufactured and used: in the form of pings (for electric field) and rings (for magnetic field). Measurements of radiation in the far zone were made in the frequency range 5.6 ... 17.5 GHz. It is experimentally shown good agreement between the results of measurements of samples of materials for distance and near zones of radiation in the overlapping frequency range. As a result, we obtained a simple and easily implemented method of express- measurement of samples of thin film materials of small sizes in the electric and magnetic fields near the radiator area.
