Abstract. The article proposes a quasi-optimal method for determining the spatial coordinates of a moving radio source based on a multi-position system based on measurements of one bearing and relative energy (power) measurements of the received signal taking into account the effect of its reflections from the Earth's surface. The problem is solved for small elevation angles, taking into account the curvature of the Earth. It uses a polynomial model of the motion of the radiation source, the atmosphere is considered to be a homogeneous non-absorbing medium, and the surface of the Earth is smooth and homogeneous. The quasi-optimality of the method is determined by the choice of a two-position measuring structure from the multi-position system, for which the accepted assumptions are best performed and which are less affected by random errors of the direction-finding measurements. The proposed method can be implemented on measurements of various physical nature, in which the level of the measured signal depends on the distance.

Key words: quasi-optimal method, direction-finding measurements, interference, multiposition measurement system, optimal measurement structure.
