Abstract. The concepts of the narrowband parameter and the broadband indicator when using ultra-wideband signals are investigated, the main features of signal classification, as well as their advantages and disadvantages are formulated. The influence of the narrowband parameter on the characteristics of emission and reception of ultra-wideband signals is evaluated, and recommendations are formulated to improve the efficiency of their use in radiophysical and electronic applications.
