Abstract. The work is devoted to the research of the water column using a multifunctional sonar. The purpose of the research is to detect and identify sources of methane and other gases from the seabed into the atmosphere. For this purpose, the processing and analysis of archival materials obtained experimentally using a multi-channel digital sonar was carried out. This task is important for interpreting the results of remote sensing of the Earth from spacecraft and determining the boundaries of the exit sites of various gases detected during oceanological researches of water.
