Abstract. The article considers a generalized structure and algorithm of operation of an adaptive device for inter-period accumulation (coherent and non-coherent) of a fluctuating sequence of a reflected signal. During the study, the causes of transition processes in accumulation filters were analyzed, and their influence on the envelope parameters of a reflected signal packet was estimated. An algorithm has been developed to compensate for transient processes at the output of an inter-period accumulation device (for coherent and non-coherent accumulators implemented using recursive filters) that is adaptive to the correlation properties of the fluctuating sequence of the reflected signal. The practical significance of the proposed solutions is illustrated by the results of mathematical modeling, which demonstrate their effectiveness.

Key words: inter-period processing, finite impulse response filter, infinite impulse response filter, coherent accumulation, incoherent accumulation, fluctuating sequence of the reflected signal, adaptation of filters to the correlation properties of the reflected signal, compensation of transient processes.
