Abstract. In the paper a new approach to assess the quality of digital images is proposed, which allows to predict the prospects for their possible improvement. We introduce the notion of the coefficient of image recoverability Cri, estimating the share of its amplitude spectrum, which is in a given neighborhood universal reference spectrum.
