Abstract. A single-channel adaptive transversal filter based on a multi-tap delay line is considered. It is assumed that the filter is affected by broadband interference, which is a rather complicated case in practice. This problem is typical for radar systems and electronic warfare systems. Two methods of digital signal processing are proposed. The first method allows minimizing the power of input broadband interference. The second method provides the maximum ratio of the useful signal power (if any) to the power of active interference against the background of thermal noise at the filter output. Both methods work in the case of a short sample when measuring the correlation matrix of interference, which reduces the computational complexity of the methods. Both methods have the ability to adaptively estimate the effective number of active interference. Analytical solutions are obtained for the optimal weight vectors of the adaptive transversal filter, on the basis of which an adaptive algorithm for forming the amplitude-frequency characteristic of the filter is built. The main advantage of the proposed approach is the adaptive estimate of the frequency band occupied by interference and a small number of samples per interference to find the weighting coefficients. The computational complexity of the proposed methods is estimated and it is shown that they have significantly lower computational complexity compared to the method of direct inversion of the interference correlation matrix.
