Detection of heated region's location and size by dynamical acoustical thermography

Abstract. Size and location detection of heated region which appears in result of medical procedures such as hyperthermia and thermoablation is discussed. The region parameters are changed over time. The dynamical acoustical thermography is proposed for their measurements. Computer simulation and natural experiments are carried out. In these experiments the 1D and 3D reconstruction problems are solved. In the 3D experiment two plane arrays are used. Each array consists of 7 acoustical sensors. The arrays are perpendicular each other. It is shown that the average time 10 s is enough to detect the size and location of heated region with error about 1-3 mm. The obtained results are important for the temperature control of the medical procedures connected with heat of the soft tissues of the human body.
