Abstract. Under the conditions of exposure to strong microwave electromagnetic waves on accelerating systems, explosive emission processes that occur due to the destruction of micro-irregularities on the surface of electrodes play a key role. The paper presents the results of radiation magnetohydrodynamic calculations of the explosion of copper conductors under conditions similar to those that occur during the explosion of microprotrusions. This means that the current density is on the order of 109 A/cm². The microwave mode of micro-irregularity explosion was examined. It was found that the maximum of the spectral distribution of radiation during the explosion of a microprotrusion falls within the ultraviolet range.
Key words: explosive emission, radiation-magnetohydrodynamic (RMHD) modeling, microwave breakdown.
