Abstract. In this work we analyze properties of transient processes taking place during the non- thermal application of ultrashort electric pulses to several similar to biological objects. The high-voltage solid-state generator with a pulse duration of about 5 ns is used as the source of intense pulses. The equivalent circuit method is used to carry out transient processes’ analysis. Four variants of loads which were used in experiments with cancerous tumors are studied. It is shown that, depending on whether the structural capacitance is present, a unipolar input pulse on the load may either retain its form or be transformed into a bipolar one. The voltage amplitude may change by one or two orders of magnitude and the power and energy dissipation may also vary significantly.
Key words: ultrashort pulses, nanosecond pulses, load, cancer, tumors, equivalent circuit method, transient processes, electroporation, electrodes.
