In this paper considered main properties of the scattered signals for the stochastic models of the surface. For Synthetic Aperture Radar was derived formulas for the statistical characteristics of the received signal in case of continuous and pulse transmitted signals. Different methods statistical characteristic estimation and their characteristics (bias and dispersion) was considered and compared. Was showed behavior of such methods for the SIR/X-SAR.
