Abstract.
Limits for propagation of the azimuthally symmetric electromagnetic E0
modes along the dissipative both conductive
and dielectric (water) rods were experimentally determined. It was shown that
propagation of the Sommerfeld
surface wave in a
conductive rod is limited by the condition of equality skin-depth and the
rod
radius. As for the
propagation in microwave range E0 wave inside the water-rod
analogously with “opto-fiber”, it is limited by the cutoff frequency of
dielectric waveguide, without any dependence on salt concentration in water.
