Abstract.
This paper presents
microwave experiment demonstrating waves passing through a two-dimensional
microwave photonic crystal at its different plane orientations. The comparison
study of expected microwave transmission behaviour from ray optics standpoint
as well as conception of an effective refractive index is carried out. The
electric microwave field distribution pattern, available from experiments, is
also analyzed. It is shown that the sample studied has a negative effective
refractive index at certain orientations and frequencies.
