Abstract.
Opportunities to achieve a cut-off pattern in semi-shadow area of
an antenna by supplementing the ground plane with a system of semi-transparent
ribs parallel to the direction of the main lobe are discussed. Mathematical
models have been developed, computer simulation have been performed, results have
been proved by experimental studies. It has been shown that a cut-off of about
20dB is achievable. Results are relevant to electromagnetic compatibility,
jamming protection and multipath error mitigation.
