Abstract. The completion of the development of the 24-element 8-mm range matrix receiving system for passive radio imaging applications is reported. The receiving matrix system features high fluctuation sensitivity of the radiometric modules (not worse than 10 mK/Hz1/2), dense packing of the system’s elements and their high temperature stability, which allows the operation in modulation and compensation modes without external calibration. Using the transmitters with dielectric rods as the matrix feeds and the compact design of the receiving modules made possible to realize the array spacing as small as 14 mm. The peculiarities of dense packed receiver matrix design, the results of multibeam antenna pattern of the passive radio imaging system with a 24-element receiving array simulation and a test radio image are presented.
