Abstract (in English)

Gas-gap thermal switch for a cryogenic magnetic refrigerator based on GdNi2

This article studies the operating parameters of a gas-gap thermal switch in a cryogenic magnetic refrigerator based on a superconducting magnet cryostat. Helium was used as the heat exchange gas and a magnetocaloric alloy disk made of GdNi2 and a copper cylinder served as heat exchange elements. The relaxation times of the gas-gap thermal switch elements were experimentally determined at temperatures of 24 K, 61 K, 75 K, and 80 K. It was shown that the relaxation times of the contact pair of a cryogenic mechanical thermal switch with an indium thermal interface and a cryogenic gas-gap thermal switch are virtually identical. The potential cooling capacity was determined and a refrigeration cycle for a single cascade of a cryogenic magnetic refrigerator with a gas-gap thermal switch was constructed.
