Abstract. This paper considers a digital predistortion method based on tabular approximation of nonlinear amplitude-dependent functions of a generalized memory polynomial model. The proposed approach is intended to reduce the computational complexity of the digital predistortion algorithm when implemented in FPGA, ASIC and system-on-chip devices. In contrast to direct computation of polynomial basis functions, the nonlinear model multipliers are preliminarily grouped by delays and represented as lookup tables. This makes it possible to replace part of the exponentiation and multiplication operations with memory addressing and interpolation. It is shown that this transformation preserves the structure of the model with memory while reducing the number of arithmetic operations performed in real time. The paper discusses table generation, computational complexity estimation and hardware implementation aspects of the proposed method.
