Investigation of the dispersion characteristics of a single-strip line on a 
single dielectric layer

The dispersion characteristics of slowing and attenuation of the 
dominant and first higher mode of a single-strip line on a single dielectric 
layer are investigated by the Finite Element Method. The numerical solution has 
been obtained using a resonator model with the line inside it and direct finding 
of the complex eigenvalues for the cross section. It’s shown that the results of 
both techniques for the slowing coefficient of the dominant and first higher 
modes are practically identical, and there is a good conjugation for the 
attenuation. Cross and longitude components of the electric field of the 
dominant and first higher modes are presented. The calculated attenuation 
dependences from the frequencies of dominant modes of a single-strip and a 
microstrip line are compared.
