Abstract. Analytical ambiguity functions are very effective in problems that require heavy computational costs, providing a significant reduction in processing time and resource consumption compared to numerical methods when working with large data sets. For example, when modeling radar signal processing reflections from the surface, the use of analytical formulations of ambiguity functions minimizes calculating costs. In this investigation, an analytical methodology for calculating the ambiguity function of incoherent pulse packets with linear frequency modulation is developed. The resulting analytical expressions reveal key resolution and periodicity properties of linear frequency modulated pulse packets, providing critical insight into their suitability for detecting low-speed targets against surface interference. These results allow us to optimize signal design for radar systems operating under conditions of intense reflections from the underlying ground surface.

Key words: airborne radar station, ground clutter, linear frequency modulation, ambiguity function, complex signal, intense reflections, underlying surface.
