Investigation of the efficiency of focused radiation

formation with errors in determining media parameters

Abstract. The variations of characteristics of focusing electromagnetic field are described in the paper. The variations are occurred when medium parameters are defined with some errors. Errors in determination of attenuation coefficient and phase coefficient are discussed. Modeling the distribution of electromagnetic intensity was carried out with software MathCad. As parameters of the focused field, the size of the focused area and the level of local maxima adjacent to the focused area were considered. The paper shows that errors in media parameters slightly reduce the efficiency of focused field formation, but the focus principle itself is not questioned. The errors of phase coefficient are most influential and reduce electromagnetic field concentration near focusing point.
