Abstract. In this work, a two-dimensional problem of diffraction of a plane H polarized wave in the light range 300 nm < λ < 900 nm (λ – is the wavelength) by a nanostructure formed by a gold nanocylinder coved with a symmetric quartz layer is considered. The frequency characteristics of the scattering cross-section and plasmon’s resonances are calculated by rigorous numerical methods. The influence of the cylinder’s radius and radius of the quartz layer, relative permittivity and gold loss on the spectra of the scattering cross-section is investigated.

Key words: plasmon resonances, the frequency characteristics, the scattering cross-section, gold nanocylinder, quartz shell, plane H polarized wave, the light range.
